There are several factions that will be anonymized and, here, somewhat fictionalized. The "Dream of the Star" faction favors the path of the visionary society. This approach emphasizes the inner spiritual and philosophical structure of life -- meaning, inspiration, dream, revelation, and question. Activities inspired from this faction include the weekly Spiritual Quest gatherings, and the Community Circle. The "Personal Transformation" faction favors the path of psychology and emotional structures -- projects extending out from this faction include the weekly Star Community Forum, and the holding of space for difficult conversations. Then there is "Possibility Management," -- a banner carried by two members trained in that art, and who have trained almost the entire community in it. Possibility Management is a context that focuses on responsibility, communications, feelings, gameworlds, and transformation. There are also the "Tamerans." These are individuals who champion the ideals of the community Tamera in Portugal, which was also the progenitor of the New Culture camps, that was foundational to the Star Community. There are many others as well, and a great many activities.

This is a draft of text to go on Website2021.

Star Community presently lives at the intersection of three big ideas:

Our vision includes:

We do not follow any particular religion, but draw inspiration from all religions. Several of us are working on the development of a spiritual path, pulling from religion, mythology, philosophy, fairy tales, mysticism, esoterics, theater, and fiction. We are also committed to action and experimentation and active research.

Manifesto Approach (transcribed from conversation 2021-05-08)

Life is something magical, not ordinary. We live in a world of machinery and systems, and we feel small, tiny, and isolated within those systems. We believe that extraordinary relationships are possible and that life is so much more than it appears on the surface.

We arrive amid the wreckage of modern culture. We believe in Science, but we also believe that there is more possible in our world. We see the shadow of the looming climate catastrophe, and we know that we need to mobilize. But it's not enough for us to just focus on the catastrophe. We believe fundamentally that there's a deeper crisis which is that we don't know that human life is even worth saving, period. And so the crisis of pessimism and meaninglessness and the perpetually sad story of life in endless war -- We are looking for a deeper spiritual conviction from a naturalistic standpoint.

Manifest Approach, take 2

Life is something magical, not ordinary. We live surrounded by giant machineries -- social institutions, nation states, metropolises, trade relations, consumptions and excretion, financial systems, and on and on. It's easy to feel small, insignificant, and isolated. "What's any of this for?" We take refuge in provicial thinking -- my career, my household, my daughter, my father, my mother, my friends. We insulate ourselves in a cozy and comfortable web, and then either ignore the world, or get upset about it on Facebook.

But what if we could do something different? What if we could think something different? What if we could see something different?

There is the climate crisis. There is war -- physical, material war -- in the world. There is the battle between left and right, social justice and American idealism -- in the United States, at a minimum. Men and women continue to struggle. There are all of these battles.

What is the place for the human being here? What is the place of the human being here?

Is it to pick a side, and fight bravely? Is it to hide away, and not look out past our covers?

"There are many here among us, who feel that life is but a joke. But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate. So let us stop talking falsely now, the hour's getting late."

ABORTED. There'a a problem in the composition in that it argues against agitation, while agitating the whole way through.

Attempt 1, 2021-11-27

Star Community is an exciting, but difficult to categorize community, in Seattle. Roughly twenty adults and two children live across two houses, struggling to find the way to a meaningful life and future.

"Struggling to find the way to a meaningful life and future." Because there is no agreement about the way forward. Lion favors the path of the visionary societies, holding weekly Spiritual Quest gatherings, Community Circle gatherings, and always drawing attention to the inner spiritual and philosophical structure of life. Jack Pollard focuses on personal development and emotional structures, favoring the Star Community Forum and held spaces for difficult conversations. Paul and Anette bring their own particular approach to a gameworld called "Possibility Management," an approach that almost the entire community is trained in. Florian and Angelique hold the vision of a rural life, and hold more closely to the Tameran approach, and holding study groups for studying Tameran literature. There are also others who are focused more on values of compassion and connection, and focus on gardening.

So there are many forces at work in the Star Community, and there is not one, agreed upon, coherent vision. This said, there is a great deal of creativity, engagement, and connection in the Star Community.

This creativity can be seen in a study of the Star Community Layer Cake.

Feedback said, "Remove the names," and so here was the result after attempting that:
